The Public Safety Report is compiled from criminal complaints filed in state and federal courts, as well as some police blotter information, trooper dispatches, fire department reports and interviews with public safety officials. Individuals names as arrested and/or charged with crimes in this report are presumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law.
Nathan Moses, 23, of Galena, was charged with fourth-degree assault on Sept. 16.
According to court documents, the Fairbanks Police Department received a report of a disturbance in the Davis-Van Horn neighborhood. The caller, Moses’ brother, reported that Moses was intoxicated and had become violent.
Officers arrived and spoke to the caller, whose shirt was torn in half, outside of the residence. He said his brother was drinking due to a breakup and became aggressive. Moses admitted to punching his brother and grabbing him by the neck. Moses said he would rather go to jail than stay in the home.
Officers arrested Moses and transported him to Fairbanks Correctional Center. He was arraigned on Sept. 16 and released on his own recognizance with the stipulation that he not possess or consume alcohol or firearms. He cannot contact or be within 500 feet of the victim and the victim’s home.
James Mason-Olson, 30, of Fairbanks, was charged with fourth-degree assault, fifth-degree criminal mischief, and two counts of assault with a child present on June 26.
According to court documents, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a disturbance at Tanana Lakes Recreation Area. The caller told troopers that she had invited Mason-Olson to the recreation area to visit with their kids.
While they were there, Mason-Olson went through her phone and confronted her about texting another individual. Mason-Olson was yelling at her and she believed the situation would escalate so she put the kids in the truck and started to leave. Mason-Olson then got into his car and blocked her in the parking lot. The caller said she was scared that Mason-Olson was going to hit her based on past experiences. She informed troopers that he was homeless and living out of his car.
A probable cause arrest warrant was placed on Mason-Olson and he was arraigned on Sept. 15. His bail was set at $500. He cannot contact the victim or children.
Katrina Gallegos, 33, of North Pole, pleaded guilty to second-degree theft on Sept. 15.
According to court documents, Alaska State Troopers were notified on March 14, 2025, that Gallegos had stolen firearms from her ex-boyfriend’s residence. Eleven firearms were reported missing as well as a bow and a crossbow.
In addition, Gallegos ransacked the residence and left with over $35,000 worth of items. On Dec. 3, Gallegos was contacted by troopers and admitted to stealing the firearms. On Dec. 4, the items from the residence were located at a cabin in the Badger neighborhood.
Troopers arrested Gallegos on Dec. 5. She was arraigned on Dec. 6 and her bail was set at $10,000.
