Family identifies 17-year-old girl killed in North Abilene shooting
ABILENE, Texas — A family in Abilene is mourning the death of 17-year-old Izabella (Bella) Orona after a shooting early Saturday morning, as police continue investigating what led up to the violence.

Abilene police officers were called just after 3 a.m. Saturday to the 2000 block of North 16th Street after receiving a report of an injured person. When officers arrived, they found Orona suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, according to the Abilene Police Department.
Orona was taken to a local hospital and later transported to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth, where she died from her injuries.
Police have arrested two people in connection with the case. Nineteen-year-old Nathan Burnett Jr. and 21-year-old Alex Andaverde have both been charged with assault with a deadly weapon. Burnett also faces an additional charge of theft of a firearm.
Investigators have not released details about what led up to the shooting or the relationship between those involved. The Abilene Police Department said the investigation remains active and more information is expected as detectives continue their work.
