Cold case | Daughters seek justice 34 years later for mother's murder
DUNDALK, Md. (WBFF) — A mother was killed inside her Dundalk apartment more than three decades ago, but her family is still searching for answers.
Terry Schmansky, a 27-year-old mother of three, was found fatally stabbed inside her home along Holabird Avenue on Sept. 23, 1989.

According to her family, Schmansky had recently moved into the apartment after separating from her husband and was trying to rebuild her life while caring for her young daughters.
On the night before the killing, Schmansky worked a shift at Squires restaurant and later went on a double date, her daughters recalled. Loved ones said she appeared visibly upset that night, with people recalling her crying in a bathroom and stating she felt someone was following her.
The last time her family saw her alive, she was sharing a beer on the porch with a neighbor before preparing to go to sleep.
"My mom...she didn't even get a life," said one of Schmansky's daughters. While the search for suspects continues, her family and investigators have pointed to crucial evidence in the case. "There was male DNA left on evidence. And with future advances in DNA, we will be able to hone in on that one piece," said a family member.

Loved ones believe that a critical piece of evidence combined with even a small tip could finally bring the case to a close. "There's a whole network of people who loved my mom that are still hurting. Someone does know something. Something doesn't add up," said Schmansky's daughter.
The search for answers continues, marking 34 years since Schmansky was killed.
