Hillsboro police arrest parolee after raid on East Elm Street leads to recovery of stolen firearms

Hillsboro Police arrested a 27-year-old parolee and recovered stolen firearms on East Elm Street following a series of vehicle burglaries and gun thefts.

HILLSBORO, Texas (KWTX) - A targeted police operation in Hillsboro led to the arrest of a 27-year-old parolee and the recovery of stolen weapons, bringing an end to a recent crime spree that had put local residents on edge.

At approximately 11:45 a.m. on Aug. 4, officers with the Hillsboro Department of Public Safety executed search and arrest warrants in the 700 block of East Elm Street.

The raid was the culmination of an extensive investigation led by the department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID).

Investigation Targets Vehicle Burglaries and Gun Thefts

The crackdown followed a spike in vehicle burglaries and firearm thefts concentrated around the Elm and Franklin Street neighborhoods.

During the execution of the search warrant, investigators successfully recovered two stolen firearms, along with additional evidence linking the suspect to the recent string of neighborhood thefts.

The suspect, a 27-year-old local resident who was “recently paroled to the Hillsboro area,” was taken into custody without incident.

He faces multiple warrant charges, including:

- Burglary of a Vehicle (Multiple Counts)

- Theft of a Firearm (Multiple Counts)

Police said the man was booked into the Hill County Jail, where he remains held. Police officials indicated that he may also face a charge of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. Authorities are currently withholding the suspect’s identity pending his formal arraignment.
