S.C. officer back on duty months after crash killed her wife, parents

GREENVILLE, S.C. - A beloved South Carolina police officer is returning to duty months after surviving a head-on collision that claimed the lives of her wife, her parents and two others.

Greenville police Sgt. Diana Munoz is stepping back into public service following the May crash in Spartanburg County.

The multi-vehicle collision left Diana Munoz severely injured and resulted in five fatalities.

Among those killed in the crash was Diana Munoz’s wife, Sgt. Ashley Munoz, who also served with the Greenville Police Department.

Diana Munoz’s parents also died in the crash, along with the driver and passenger of the other vehicle involved.

Despite the personal loss and severe physical injuries, Diana Munoz’s return to duty marked a major milestone in her recovery, drawing widespread support from her colleagues and the Greenville community.
