OSBI arrests Oklahoma man linked to multi-county oilfield equipment thefts.OSBI arrests Oklahoma man linked to multi-county oilfield equipment thefts PURCELL, Okla.(KOKH) — The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation arrested an Oklahoma man after he allegedly stole equipment from multiple oil fields across Oklahoma.OSBI said the McClain County Sheriff's Office responded to a call of a stolen pump jack in Purcell on October 2, 2023.Deputies also learned of a second theft on Feb.7, 2025, at an oilfield in Cole.Investigators learned that a pump jack worth more than $40,000 had been stolen from the field.During the investigation, the McClain County Sheriff's Office requested the help of OSBI.OSBI agents found that the thefts are connected to a larger organized crime organization that spanned multiple counties in Oklahoma and other states.42-year-old Jonathan Stamper was identified as a suspect in the thefts by OSBI.The bureau said Stamper has stolen oilfield equipment from multiple locations and removed the manufacturer's identification plate and serial numbers.Stamper would then create new serial number plates for the equipment according to OSBI.OSBI and the McClain County Sheriff's Office served a search warrant at Stamper's residence in Washington, Oklahoma.Stamper was arrested and charged with two counts of Grand larceny of Oilfield Equipment and one count of Trespass and Damage of Critical infrastructure Facility.OSBI said the investigation is still ongoing and asks anyone with any information regarding this case to contact the OSBI tip line at tips@osbi.ok.gov or 1-800-522-8017.For more local news delivered straight to your inbox, sign up for our daily newsletter by clicking here.
