Man charged after 2 critically injured in Gladstone shooting

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A man has been charged after two people were critically injured in a shooting in Gladstone, according to the Clay County Prosecutor’s Office.

Prosecutors charged Antwan Ross-Jones with two counts of first-degree assault and two counts of armed criminal action.

Police said that on June 29, officers were flagged down by a witness near NE 61st Street and N. Oak Trafficway. The witness reported a suspect - believed to be Ross-Jones - fired multiple rounds into a red car near 6304 N. Oak Trafficway, then ran into the woods behind a business.

Authorities said the two shooting victims later arrived at a nearby Kansas City Fire Department location and were taken to North Kansas City Hospital, where they remain in critical condition.

Investigators said they recovered two spent bullets and 11 spent 9mm shell casings at the scene.

Detectives reviewed surveillance footage and Ring camera video from nearby businesses and said it showed a man wearing a black T-shirt and blue “USA” shorts running from the scene. Video also showed an older model black Jeep Grand Cherokee, believed to be connected to the suspect.

A search warrant was executed at Ross-Jones’ apartment, where he was taken into custody, officials said.
