Family, friends hold vigil for 62-year-old man killed in Dundalk after arrest made in Pennsylvania
A vigil was held Saturday evening to honor the life of a 62-year-old man shot and killed in Dundalk earlier this week.
"Tony was the kind of guy that would sit down and listen to you no matter what your story was or your background of life. If he had it, and you needed something, he'd go out of his way to make sure you got it," said Tony Miller, a friend of the victim. "It was his nature to try to help, he really didn't hurt anybody."
Baltimore County police said officers were called around 2:10 p.m. Thursday for a shooting on Shipping Place near the Family Dollar. Police said officers found Anthony Storms, known as Tony to the community, injured from at least one gunshot wound. He died at a hospital.
A tribute to Storms was set up at the scene of the shooting, under a tree where witnesses said a good Samaritan performed CPR on him for 10 minutes until EMS crews arrived.
Miller said Storms was involved in a fistfight with the suspect two weeks prior.
"It's just a cowardly, senseless act, a man got beat up (and) got his pride hurt. Instead of staying away where he belongs — he's not from around here — he decided to come back and take a man's life that didn't deserve it," Miller told WBAL-TV 11 News.
On Friday, police announced a suspect was taken into custody in Pennsylvania. Investigators said detectives are coordinating to have the suspect extradited to Maryland to face charges, at which time, the suspect's identity will be released.
"He needs to get punished to the full extent of the law," Miller told WBAL-TV 11 News. "(Tony) was very well respected and known and loved in the neighborhood. He did not have an ignorant bone in his body."
