'I will f---ing kill you': Man allegedly pulled gun and threatened teens over fireworks
AMMON, Idaho (WKRC) - A man is accused of threatening to kill teenagers after an argument over fireworks at a public park, according to East Idaho News.
Shane Sutton, 37, was taken into custody and charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after the July 13 confrontation at a public park in Ammon, Idaho.
The incident occurred around 11:15 p.m. near the public park's pickleball courts. Police responded to reports of an individual pointing a gun at a group of people.
Deputies met several teenagers who said an unknown man had confronted them over fireworks before the encounter escalated.
The teens told investigators Sutton shouted, "I will f—ing kill you," before pulling a handgun from his waistband, cocking it, and pointing the weapon at them, according to KIFI.
Sutton had left the park by the time police arrived. Officers later found him at a nearby gas station, and he was taken into custody without further incident and booked into the Bonneville County Jail.
Investigators obtained a cellphone video recorded during the confrontation. Deputies reviewed footage that allegedly captured Sutton yelling, "You won't do s—."
The video showed Sutton allegedly lifting his shirt, grabbing the pistol from his waistband, and pulling back the slide, producing a click.
One of the teenagers, Yaser Elabed, said the confrontation started after Sutton accused the group of setting off a firework that hit his girlfriend. Elabed said Sutton "came in hot" and pushed members of the group when they tried to defuse the situation before he pulled out his gun.
There were no shots fired, and no injuries were reported.
Sutton's bond was set at $75,000 during his arraignment, and he was ordered to return to court for a preliminary hearing on July 28, records show. If convicted, each aggravated assault charge carries a potential sentence of up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
Court records do not show an attorney for Sutton.
