Cleveland teenagers accused in murder of Ukrainian Lyft driver will be tried as adults
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The two Cleveland teenagers accused in the February murder of a Ukrainian Lyft driver, were bound over from Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court and have now been indicted by a Cuyahoga County Grand Jury.
Nashawn Anthony Jordan, now 18, and Cameren Bradford, 17, were indicted on:
- One count of aggravated murder
- Two counts of murder
- Two counts of aggravated robbery
- Two counts of felonious assault
They both remain behind bars at the Cuyahoga County Detention Center and will be arraigned at a later date.
Vasyl Shvets was fatally shot on Feb. 10 around 12:45 a.m. in the 2400 block of E. 84th St.
Police said officers found the 27-year-old Lyft driver shot in the torso and slumped over his steering wheel.
Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley said the suspects tried to rob Shvets before shooting him.
After the car crashed, Jordan and Bradford fled on foot and were arrested on Feb. 16.
Shvets escaped the deadly war in Ukraine and came to Northeast Ohio for a better life.

His body will be returned to Ukraine.
Shvets was the second of two Lyft drivers in a 36-hour period in Cleveland.
On Feb. 5, Antoine Latham, 56, was shot in the head inside his car while driving for Lyft.
Latham was shot in the area of E. 103rd and Rosehill Avenue.
Police arrested Derrek Dove, of Garfield Heights, for that homicide.
