Second suspect arrested in Georgetown attempted murder investigation
GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) — Georgetown County Police announced another arrest in the ongoing investigation into the attempted murder of Jeremiah McNeal.
Chief Nelson E. Brown said officers with the Georgetown Police Department, assisted by deputies from the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office and the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team, executed two search warrants Friday.
The first search warrant was executed at 20 Avant Court in Georgetown. During the execution of the warrant, Qua'lik Ky Leemi Lazaer Flowers, 19, of 20 Avant Court, was taken into custody.
Flowers is charged with attempted murder, shooting into a dwelling and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.
During the search of the residence, investigators recovered a 9mm handgun believed to have evidentiary value to the investigation.
Flowers was transported to the Georgetown County Detention Center, where he is being held pending a bond hearing.
Following the arrest, members of the arrest team proceeded to the Kent Road area of Georgetown County, where a second search warrant was executed as part of the investigation.
Additional information regarding the results of that search warrant and any further arrests will be released as it becomes available.
Officers responded to a reported shooting July 7 in the 1900 block of Butts Street, where they found McNeal suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Police said a 16-year-old was taken into custody July 22 in connection with the shooting. The suspect was transported to the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia.
Because the suspect is a juvenile, authorities have not released the individual's name.
