Farmers and residents in the Waupaca area will have a chance to hear directly from local candidates about issues affecting agriculture and rural Wisconsin. The Wood-Portage-Waupaca Chapter of the Wisconsin Farmers Union will host a non-partisan candidate townhall Tuesday, September 22, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Waupaca Area Public Library.
Candidates for Wisconsin’s 8th Congressional District, 19th Senate District, 57th Assembly District, and Waupaca County Sheriff have been invited.
Agriculture and rural issues take center stage
The forum will focus on issues including farmland protection, public health and safety, and federal farm assistance programs. Candidates will have an opportunity to explain their agricultural and rural policy platforms.
Questions will come from the Farmers Union as well as attendees who submit questions ahead of the event.
The event is being held as a 501(c)(3) educational forum, with all invited candidates participating in a non-partisan discussion focused on issues important to farmers, rural residents, and the community.
Doors open at 5:15 p.m., with the townhall beginning at 5:30 p.m. Candidates may also be available for informal conversations with attendees following the event.
