Get hunter educated
A free 10-hour Arkansas Game and Fish Commission hunter education class begins at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Hunt Family Nature Center in Springdale. Minimum age is 8.

Walk through Bentonville
Ozark Hill Hikers invite all walkers to join a walk Aug. 26 in Bentonville. Registration is from 8:30 to 9 a.m. at Casey's convenience store, 100 SE J St. in Bentonville. Cost is $4 for all walkers.
There is a short drive to the start point where participants will choose a 5- or 10-kilometer route. These follow the clear water of Coler Creek, over the singing bridge and by Airship Cafe.

Be safe in the tree
Learn the basics of tree stand safety at 1 p.m. Sept. 5 at the Hunt Family Nature Center in Springdale. Arkansas Game and Fish Commission educators will demonstrate entering and exiting a stand, types of tree stands, safety harness use and more.
Minimum age is 6. The class is limited to 30 attendees so registration is required. Call the nature center, (833) 356-0847, for registration information.
Teach about streams
A free course for educators to become certified to teach Stream Team activities and classes will be at 9 a.m. Sept. 10 at the Hunt Family Nature Center in Springdale.
Much of the training is in water so educators should dress appropriately. Waders will be available or educators may bring their own. The class is limited to 13. Call the center, (833) 356-0847 to register.
Go squirrel hunting
A three-day squirrel hunting camp for women will be Sept. 18-20 at the Arkansas Game and Fish Cook's Lake Lodge near Casscoe, which is east of Stuttgart. Applicants must be at least 18 and have an Arkansas hunting license and hunter education card. Ten participants will be chosen from the applicants and will stay at the lodge. Cost is $75.
The camp will cover a variety of topics including squirrel biology, cleaning and cooking squirrels. Shotguns and ammunition are provided or hunters may bring their own. A mandatory safety shoot will be held Sept. 18.

Youth quail hunt
A youth quail hunt for ages 12 to 15 is set for 7 a.m. Sept. 19 at the Benton County Quail property in Centerton. It's designed for youths interested in quail hunting who haven't had the opportunity to hunt quail and don't have a mentor to take them. Youths must have completed hunter education to participate.
Adult guides will walk side by side with each youth as they hunt farm-raised quail. Shotguns and ammunition are provided.

Wild game feast
Beast Feast NWA will be Sept. 26 at the Immanuel Baptist Church Go Center, 2555. S. 26th St. in Rogers. Doors open at 4 p.m. Dinner and program is at 6 p.m. Tickets are $20.
The menu includes wild game, pulled pork, fish and sides. Events will feature 3D archery, Daisy BB gun range and vendor booths. Prize drawings will be held for hunting, fishing and outdoor gear.

Teach hunter ed
Arkansas Game and Fish Commission offers free training for people who wish to to become certified to teach hunter education classes. Applicants must have already completed hunter education. Paddle your own canoe
Janet Huckabee River Valley Nature Center in Fort Smith offers free canoeing and kayaking 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each Saturday on Wells Lake at the nature center. The event is weather and staff dependent. Call the center at (501) 710-6285 for information.
