People in Kingston, Oklahoma, were taken by surprise to find the intersection at Highway 70 and Main Street was replaced with a four-way stop, which was previously installed with a stoplight.
KINGSTON, Okla. (KTEN) - Drivers in Kingston, Oklahoma, have noticed a big change to the town's only stoplight.
Taxpayers and even city staff took to social media, questioning the traffic signal that guides drivers through the busy Highway 70 and Main Street intersection.
City officials confirmed with KTEN the stoplight was turned into a four-way stop.
In a statement, Mayor Sarah Jones wrote, "We are all well aware that ODOT has the authority to make this change, regardless of our opinion, but what I'm questioning is why the town wasn't included in a conversation...We want to work with ODOT, not against ODOT, but communication is critical when changes like this directly affect the day-to-day operation of our town."
Jones added that she is meeting with ODOT staff on Thursday to further discuss concerns.

even for a short time, as temperatures can quickly rise to
life-threatening levels.
Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To
reduce risk when outdoors, the occupational safety and health
administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded
or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be
moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency!
Call 911 ASAP if you or someone you know is exhibiting signs of heat
stroke.
