Heavy fire and loud booms reported at garage in northwest Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - The Cedar Rapids Fire Department shared video from an overnight garage fire.

Firefighters were called to a fire at a detached garage around 11 p.m. Thursday on the 1000 block of 10th Street Northwest.

A witness reported loud booms at the fire.

Five Cedar Rapids stations responded to the heavy fire and got it under control shortly after 11:20 p.m.

There was no one in the garage when the fire happened. No one was injured.

Cedar Rapids Police and Area Ambulance Service assisted with the call.

The cause is under investigation.
