Second teen pleads guilty in 2025 Wynnewood double homicide
WYNNEWOOD, Okla. (KXII) - A second teenager has pleaded guilty to his role in an April 2025 double homicide at a Garvin County marijuana grow site.
Matthew Jones, now 17, pleaded guilty in federal court as an adult on Thursday to second-degree murder and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence, according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.
Jones faces up to life in federal prison and a fine of up to $500,000.
The charges stem from an April 18, 2025, incident where Garvin County deputies responded to a marijuana grow property near East County Road 1600 and North County Road 3320 in Wynnewood.
Upon arrival, deputies found 56-year-old Bao Ming Ma and 42-year-old Alejandro Baltazar Hernandez deceased from gunshot wounds.
An OSBI investigation revealed that Jones, who was 16 at the time, and Whyitt Collins, then 18, broke into the residence on the property and shot and killed both victims.
Both suspects were arrested in May 2025.
Collins pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder and one count of first-degree burglary.
On June 29, 2026, he was sentenced in Garvin County District Court to life without parole.
