Man gets 10 years for deadly 2024 Centreville shooting during drug deal
FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (7News) — A man was sentenced Thursday, more than two years after a drug deal in Centreville went wrong and ended in a deadly shooting.
Hassan Kanu, 24, was sentenced to 10 years in prison with four years suspended.

This stems from a shooting in May 2024. Kanu was buying marijuana from Michael Alcantara, 18, outside of a business along Route 29.
Kanu had gotten into Alcantara's car for the purchase, but shortly thereafter the pair jumped out of the vehicle and opened fire on each other, according to a news release.
Kanu fired 13 bullets, hitting Alcantara in the back as he was running away. Kanu was also hit by gunfire in the exchange.
Records show Kanu then ditched his gun and pretended to be a bystander when officers arrived, but later confessed to the shooting.
