Police arrest 38-year-old man in Long Beach murder case

LONG BEACH, Miss. (WLOX) — The Long Beach Police Department arrested a Vancleave man early Friday in connection with a murder.

Police said Hallis Wayne Russ Jr., 38, was taken into custody around 1 a.m. near Pat Eubanks Road in George County. He is charged with one count of murder.

The arrest stems from a shooting on Allen Road early Thursday morning. Officials said Neville Conner, 38, was found dead at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds.

At this time, no information regarding a possible motive has been released.

Russ was transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center and is being held on a $1 million bond.
