Stark County high school band member dies in crash

STARK COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) -A Minerva High School student was killed in a crash last week.

Senior Grant Hale died on Sept. 10 after an accident with a commercial truck on U.S. 30 in Perry Township.

Hale was eastbound on U.S. 30 around 12:20 p.m. when he went off the highway, over the grass and into the westbound lanes, hitting the truck.

Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers said the crash is under investigation.

Grant also attended R.G. Drage, where he was studying to be a machinist, and played trumpet in the Minerva Marching Band and Concert Band.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Grant’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. May they find comfort in the love and support of the Minerva community,” posted Minerva school officials on Facebook.
