Deputies: Registered sex offender arrested after child sexual abuse material found
SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office reports a register sex offender was arrested after hundreds of files of child sex abuse material was found on Thursday.
Alan Dale Smith, 61, is facing 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, third degree.
Investigators executed a search warrant at a residence on Rexford Drive in Moore and found a number of digital storage devices with hundreds of files of child sexual abuse material, deputies said.
Smith was taken to the Spartanburg County Detention Center and is being held on a $500,000 bond.
The South Carolina Attorney General’s Office will prosecute the case.
