Lincoln man arrested on warrant charging him with sexual assault

A Maine man has been taken into custody on sexual assault charges stemming from offenses that reportedly happened over a decade ago, according to police.
James DeLong, 36, of Lincoln, was arrested Tuesday on a warrant charging him with one Class A count of gross sexual assault, one Class A count of unlawful sexual contact and one Class B count of unlawful sexual contact.
Lincoln Police Chief Lee Miller said the alleged offenses, which happened more than 10 years ago, were reported to the Lincoln Police Department.
Miller said an arrest warrant was issued for DeLong following an extensive investigation. DeLong was arrested by the Piscataquis County Sheriff's Office and taken to the Piscataquis County Jail, where he remains in custody.
"The Lincoln Police Department recognizes Detective Stuart Jacobs for the significant time and effort he devoted to this investigation," Miller said in a news release. "We also appreciate the work of Assistant District Attorney Chelsea Lynds of the Penobscot County District Attorney's Office."
Miller said the Children's Advocacy Center and the Maine Department of Health and Human Services also assisted with the investigation.
