Las Vegas man accused of making terrorist threats to St.George business nabbed by strike team.A Nevada man accused of making repeated threats against a St.George business, including threats of violence and use of racial slurs, has been arrested and is awaiting extradition to Utah.Ramchand Rattan, 44, of Las Vegas, was taken into custody on May 26 and is being held at the Clark County Detention Center in Nevada.He faces one second-degree felony charge of making a terroristic threat involving a hoax weapon of mass destruction, along with a misdemeanor count of communications harassment.According to a probable cause affidavit, the investigation began after the St.George Police Department received reports starting in January that an unidentified man had made multiple threatening phone calls to the local Costco.During four separate calls, the suspect allegedly used racial slurs and threatened violence, including statements about “blasting the place” and “lighting [them] up like a BBQ,” the detective wrote.The caller also made hostile remarks targeting Black individuals and members of the LGBTQ+ community and issued an ultimatum demanding certain employees be removed or he would “blow up the place,” the report alleged.Employees reported the calls came from a blocked number and described the unidentified caller as a man believed to be between 30 and 40 years old with a foreign accent.In May, investigators obtained phone records and were able to identify the number associated with the blocked calls.The number was linked to Rattan and matched details provided in earlier reports, according to the affidavit.Detectives later determined Rattan was listed as a household member on a Costco account tied to the same phone number, though the account was under a different individual’s name.Surveillance footage from the store showed a man believed to be Rattan entering with the account holder one day before the first threatening call.Police also said the individual in the footage matched a Department of Motor Vehicles photo of Rattan.An associate told investigators that Rattan had exhibited similar behavior in the past and may suffer from an undiagnosed mental illness, according to the report.Detectives then uncovered a similar incident reported by a St.George car dealership in May 2025, when a suspect made racially charged calls after visiting the business the previous day.Charges were filed May 14 in Washington County and a warrant was issued for Rattan’s arrest.After investigators tracked him to Nevada, St.George police coordinated with Las Vegas authorities.When initial attempts to contact him were unsuccessful, the U.S.Marshals Service Violent Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team assisted in locating and arresting him without incident.George Police Officer Tiffany Mitchell said Rattan remains in custody in Nevada and is awaiting extradition.In a statement released by the St.George Police Department, Nevada U.S.Marshal Gary Schofield said the arrest highlights cooperation among agencies when suspects cross state lines.“Anytime a suspect threatens the community and crosses state lines, law enforcement partners will work together to bring them in,” Schofield said.“Terroristic threats will not be tolerated.” The St.George Police Department also praised the coordinated efforts of all agencies involved in the case.This report is based on statements from court records, police or other responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
