42nd Junior Beefmaster Breeders Show returns to Ike Hamilton Expo Center
Youth exhibitors from Louisiana, Arkansas and Texas will show cattle Wednesday and Thursday; awards wrap up Friday.
WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE) - The Ike Hamilton Expo Center is preparing to host the 42nd annual Junior Beefmaster Breeders Show this week, bringing youth cattle exhibitors from multiple states to West Monroe.
Roughly 200 competitors from Louisiana, Arkansas and Texas will present their animals Wednesday and Thursday for evaluation by a panel of judges. Organizers say the event helps develop the next generation of agricultural leaders by emphasizing responsibility and sound breeding practices.
“These young individuals that are competing here showcasing their cattle and what they’ve worked all year to put together — they could be tomorrow’s farmers and ranchers,” said Hannah Nixon of the Beefmasters Breeders Association. “They come here with such pride… and pride in the genetics that they put together… and so these young individuals, we take a lot of pride in as an association.”
The show is free and open to the public and will wrap up Friday with an awards presentation.
