Two arrested on trafficking charges in Marshall County

Two men have been arrested on trafficking charges after being stopped in Marshall County. Marshall County Sheriff’s deputies stopped a vehicle Tuesday along US 641 for a traffic violation. A police K9 was called in and did an open-air sniff of the vehicle, which was driven by 48-year-old Thomas Sawyers of Hardin. The dog triggered to the possibility of drugs in the vehicle, and a further search is said to have turned up about 86 grams of methamphetamine, plus marijuana and digital scales. Sawyers was arrested and charged with trafficking in meth, possession of marijuana, and a host of traffic violations. A computer search also revealed warrants for Sawyers from Gallatin County. He was served with those, charging him with trafficking in fentanyl and meth. Another man in the vehicle, 65-year-old Gregory Watts of Fulton, was also arrested and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance as well as possession of marijuana. Watts also had outstanding warrants for probation violations out of Graves County. Calloway deputies assisted in the stop and investigation.
