NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Former Vice President Kamala Harris is scheduled to speak Friday afternoon at the National Urban League Conference in Nashville.
Harris will appear at the Legacy Leadership Awards Luncheon from 12:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. at the Music City Center.

Her appearance comes during the final days of the four-day conference, which has brought civil rights leaders, elected officials and advocates to Nashville to discuss racial justice, voting rights and economic opportunity.

The conference has already featured calls for accountability: attorney Ben Crump and the families of Nolan Wells, Daniel Erving and Tyler Smith appeared Thursday, saying police investigations into the deaths of the three Black teenagers were not thorough.

Harris has made several Nashville appearances in recent years. In April 2023, while serving as vice president, she spoke at Fisk University in support of the Tennessee Three following their protest for stricter gun laws after the Covenant School shooting. Harris called for expanded background checks and additional restrictions on assault rifles.
She returned in November 2025 to campaign for Democrat Aftyn Behn before the 7th Congressional District special election.
