Jul 13, 1943 — Jul 9, 2026 (age 82)
Lothair Willis Thompson passed away peacefully at home on July 9, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Just days shy of his 83rd birthday, he was surrounded by the love of his family.
Lothair was born on July 13, 1943, in Logan, Utah, to Willis Earl Thompson and Tellma Goodey Thompson. He spent his childhood in Clarkson, Utah, where he developed a strong work ethic while working alongside his father, who was also his best friend. Those early years helped shape the man he would become—a man known for his integrity, kindness, and willingness to serve others.
He attended North Cache High School, where he met the love of his life, Georgann Eppich. As a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lothair served a mission in Eastern Canada. Upon returning home, he married his sweetheart and best friend, Georgann Eppich, in the Logan Utah Temple on March 19, 1965. Lothair graduated from Utah State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing.
He and Georgann settled in Bountiful, Utah, where they made their forever home and lovingly raised their five daughters.
Lothair loved serving in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and cherished the many callings he held throughout his life. He quietly served wherever he was needed and found great joy in helping others.
He found joy in life’s simple pleasures and greatest adventures. He loved spending time with his family boating, riding motorcycles, camping, horseback riding, traveling, visiting with friends, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and dance recitals, and serving others. Above all else, his greatest joy was his family. He cherished his roles as a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His contagious laugh, wonderful sense of humor, quiet strength, steady example, and unconditional love will be remembered by all who knew him.
Lothair is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Georgann Eppich Thompson; his daughters, Annette (Charlie) Green, Carolyn (Doug) Pickering, KayLynne Reece, JoAnn (Mark) Larson, and Sheri Thompson; 11 grandchildren; his great-grandchildren; and his sister, LaRae Olney.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis Earl Thompson and Tellma Goodey Thompson, and his sister, Earleen Gregory.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bountiful 25th Ward Chapel, 1500 South 600 East Bountiful, Utah.
Friends may visit with family on Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 North 400 East, Bountiful and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
