Up to 4,000 cruise ship passengers and crew are scheduled to drop anchor in Yarmouth and Shelburne by mid-October.

The Silver Wind, the first of four cruise ships making five visits to Yarmouth, will be in port on Sept. 24 from 1:30 to 6 pm.
The Yarmouth and Acadian Shores Tourism Association (YASTA) and its partners have plans to welcome cruise ship visitors ashore this fall.
“The Port of Yarmouth and our partners have developed a welcome program to ensure guests feel safe, welcomed, and fully supported whether heading on a pre-booked excursion or exploring independently,” said Neil MacKenzie, YASTA CEO.
“Our team is stationed at the landing area to welcome guests, answer questions, and provide local recommendations. We also assist the ship’s shore crew to ensure co-ordinated operations and efficient transfers.”
On Oct. 8 and 10, Yarmouth will welcome passengers aboard the Crystal Symphony on Crystal Cruises’ expeditions between Boston and Montreal. It will be followed by visits from Le Bellot and Le Lyrial, both from the French luxury cruise line Ponant, on Oct. 11 and12, respectively.
MacKenzie said local tourism operators are offering various excursions for the cruise ship passengers including Cape Forchu, lobster dinners, heritage walking tours, brewery tours, and Acadian cultural experiences.
“Additionally, select tours are offered in both French and English to accommodate visits from French cruise lines like Ponant,” said MacKenzie.
The second cruise ship visit to Shelburne this fall is scheduled for Oct. 5 when the Explora III will drop anchor. The Seabourn Ovation was the first with a Sept. 9 visit.
