Now-former Parsons police officer arrested, accused of recording minor inside bathroom

LABETTE COUNTY, Kan. (KWCH) - A now-former police officer in southeast Kansas was arrested this week, accused of recording a minor in a bathroom.

The Labette County Sheriff’s Office said someone reported a person videotaping a girl inside a bathroom on July 25. Deputies responded, and investigators collected evidence, ultimately leading to the arrest of 28-year-old Tyller White, a Parsons police officer at the time of his arrest.

The Parsons Police Department said that White has since been fired.

White faces multiple charges, including breach of privacy and official misconduct.

The investigation is ongoing.

“On Saturday, July 25th, the Parsons Police Department was made aware of an investigation and arrest of one of its officers. Upon learning of the allegations involving Officer Tyller White, the Parsons Police Department immediately initiated an Internal Affairs investigation while fully cooperating with the criminal investigation being conducted by the Labette County Sheriff’s Office. Following a comprehensive review of the facts and evidence, the department determined that Officer White’s conduct was inconsistent with the standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct expected of every member of the Parsons Police Department. He has subsequently been terminated.

‘The trust our community places in its police officers is earned through integrity, accountability, and professionalism,” said Chief Robert L. Spinks. “When an employee’s actions fail to meet those standards, we have a responsibility to act decisively to maintain the confidence of the public we serve.’

Maintaining public trust requires accountability, transparency, and a willingness to take appropriate action whenever those standards are not met.
