Students are offered exciting classes to take at the end of the school year.The May Term offerings are varied, and the students get to choose which experience they would like to have!Sioux Central’s “Exploring Theatre” May Term saw the students attending the production of Guys and Dolls at Chanhassen Dinner Theatre; visiting Spencer Community Theatre and visiting Northwestern College, participating in an acting workshop and even solving a “murder mystery” while acting out a character.Awards were given for best acting to Emersyn Frazmeier, best costume to Zander Burks and best detective Urijah Curry.Students in the Equine May Term learned about equine management and the horse industry through tours and visits to Bledsoe Boutique and Ranch, Iowa Central Community College, Ellsworth Community College, Jester Park Equestrian Center, Iowa Equine and the Iowa State University Horse Barns.Students in the Health Care May Term also visited the Sioux Rapids Fire Station to learn more about emergency response, fire services and healthcare-related career opportunities.The Engineering and STEM May term students headed to the pond to see if their creations would actually float.The kids spent time researching, designing and building their cardboard boats.High school teams included Dru Samson and Alex Wernimont on one boat, and Bradley Madsen and Ethan Trierwelier on the other.Some boats stayed afloat, others discovered that cardboard and water don’t always mix.
