Prosecutors drop attempted murder charge against Marshalltown man

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa —

A Marshalltown man is no longer facing attempted murder charges after a shooting earlier this month.

New evidence suggests Jeremiah McMullen, 21, didn't take part in the shooting on Sept. 6, according to court documents. He's now only charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

McMullen and 20-year-old Tyree Rudolph were both arrested after the shooting. Rudolph is charged with attempted murder.

Both have pleaded not guilty.
