GRAND FORKS — The White Earth Tribal Police Department and Becker County Sheriff’s Office have suspended the search in Callaway, Minnesota, for the suspect of a shooting that occurred in Mahnomen County Aug. 1.
Law enforcement is searching for Ryan Pacheco, 24. He is wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred shortly after midnight Aug. 1 outside a bar in the city of Mahnomen. Two victims were injured in the encounter, which the White Earth Tribal Police Department described as a targeted incident. On Aug. 1, a statement issued by the department said there was no known threat to the general public.

Pacheco is charged with two counts of second-degree attempted murder, two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault and one count of felon convicted crime of violence for a firearm violation.
According to Becker County Chief Deputy Shane Richard, a search for Pacheco in Callaway began at 12:22 p.m. Thursday and ended around 6 p.m. the same day. It was confirmed that he was in the area, but he left prior to law enforcement’s arrival.
Pacheco is considered armed and dangerous. He is described as a young Native American male, who is approximately 155 pounds and 6 feet tall. He has brown hair, brown eyes and visible tattoos.
Ryan Pacheco’s brother, Remigio Pacheco, has also been charged in connection with the incident for felony threats of violence, felony first-degree assault and misdemeanor fleeing a peace officer. He is out of custody on a $150,000 bond. His omnibus hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Oct. 13.
According to court documents, a woman who witnessed the incident was walking home from King’s Corner bar when three men, including Ryan Pacheco and Remigio Pacheco, offered her a ride. The third man has not been identified, according to court documents.
She was walking with them toward two parked vehicles when they encountered two other men. She said the first group confronted one of the men, a fight broke out and she turned around and walked away. According to court documents, Remigio Pacheco punched the man and Ryan Pacheco allegedly pulled out a gun. About halfway back to the bar, the woman heard gunshots but did not see what happened.
Officers found Remigio Pacheco in the alleyway behind the bar and detained him when he tried to flee. They found that both men in the second group were shot, one in the back/pelvis and the other in the knees. Both were transported to the hospital. One of the injured men told officers Ryan Pacheco shot him. He said that “he was in fear for his life” and believed Ryan Pacheco “was going to kill him,” according to court documents.

On Aug. 4, WEPD announced a $5,000 reward for information leading to Ryan Pacheco's arrest. It said do not approach him, and instead call 911 or White Earth Dispatch at 218-983-3281.
