Court hearing for father accused of killing his 22-year-old daughter in East Cleveland
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A 61-year-old dad accused of killing his daughter in East Cleveland, had an initial appearance in Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Tuesday.
Edward Wells is charged with murder. He is being held on a $1 million bond and his case was sent directly to the Cuyahoga County Grand Jury.
Wells allegedly called the East Cleveland Police Department around 1 a.m. on Sept. 6 and stated that he had shot his daughter.
Cuyahoga County Sheriff deputies and East Cleveland police officers responded to the 1200 block of E. 134th St. and found the 22-year-old victim.
According to Cuyahoga County officials, she was found in a bedroom with a gunshot wound.
Kayla Nicole Wells was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials said Edward was not at the home, but was tracked down in a vehicle on the west side of Cleveland.
Deputies conducted a traffic stop and arrested him without incident.
