Police find yellow truck sought in connection with Newbury shooting

NEWBURY, Vt. (WCAX) - Vermont police have found the yellow pickup truck they were searching for in connection with a shooting in Newbury.

Troopers did not release any more details about the truck or its connection to the case.

The investigation stems from a shooting on Jefferson Hill Road Sunday afternoon.

Police said Jonathan Garneau, 43, of Barre City, was shot in the leg. He was airlifted to Dartmouth Hitchcock. A woman was also injured in the incident. Troopers said she was assaulted and treated at the hospital.

Tuesday, investigators asked the public for help tracking down the yellow truck, which they called a vehicle of interest in the case. Wednesday afternoon, they said it had been found.

Police said the investigation is still active and anyone with information is asked to call the state police in St. Johnsbury at 802-748-3111 or to leave an anonymous tip online.
