Kentucky Gov. Beshear tours areas hit with devastating flooding last weekend
Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear toured some of the areas that were hit hardest by flooding last weekend around the Commonwealth.
Beshear toured Madison County on Wednesday, where the devastating floodwaters resulted in three deaths and significant damage to homes.
As Beshear walked through the area, he said he is confident that the federal government will assist the Kentucky families who lost their homes.
Kentucky’s emergency management team is working to assess the damage and will then submit formal assistance from FEMA.
"Remember, we can't replace people, but we can rebuild things. And we're going to make sure that we provide the resources that we can to help people get back up on their feet and move forward," Beshear said.
Eric Gibson, the state's emergency management director, is urging homeowners to report flood damage to county officials.
