Landing fees
One thing that gets to me watching the various factions of the community kvetch about landing fees is that the very community that doesn’t want the airport to close is the very community that is going to benefit from having landing fees, because landing fees build a more sustainable airport. I don’t think these people know how businesses operate. Either that or they want the taxpayers to fund their elite hobby.
Wouldn’t have moved in
My husband and I bought our first home in 2020 in Longmont over by Mountain View and Hover. I wish I knew about the planes then. At that point, I never had to think about the airport, and now I see planes flying out of my window. It’s all day. I’m having my first baby soon and worried about the lead. I would not have moved here had I known.
Flight schools should move
I am so tired of being told to move if I don’t like the planes flying over my house day and night. Maybe the flight schools and the student pilots should move back to their home airports and stop using Longmont as their playground and dumping ground at the expense of the Longmont residents’ taxpayer dollars.
Lights on Hover
I’m frustrated with the lights on Hover, in particular 17th and Hover. I turn from 21st onto Hover, and by the time I get the 17th, it’s turning, and I have to stop. Unless you speed, you can’t make that light. I’ve been driving this for years. Then, the next stop light is 15th and Hover, and that thing turns before the cars even stop to turn onto Hover. I’ve never seen a light do that before, and I wish the traffic control division would look at this.
Fair church service
Not only did the Boulder County Fair Board not allow a VFW booth at the fair this year, it is my opinion that they booted out a cowboy church that has hosted the Sunday church service at the fair for 20 years. After agreeing early in the year to let the cowboy church put on the service this year, a mega church in Lafayette convinced the board to let them do the service instead. The cowboy church was then booted out after lining up the terrific music and message that the Denver Stock Show has had for many years. The fair board’s word is not worth the slop being fed to the pigs at the fair.
