Taking place on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Heritage Day at Paoli Memorial Grounds will commemorate the historic 1777 Battle of Paoli and honor its historical significance.
According to a MyChesCo report, the event will feature an American Military Timeline with living historians explaining uniforms and weapons. Visitors can also interact with guest historical personalities such as Benjamin Franklin expert Mike Kochan.
Historian Noah Lewis will portray and interpret the life of Ned Hector, a Black Revolutionary War soldier who served as a bombardier in the Continental Army and helped man artillery at the Battle of Brandywine.
New attractions this year include a Performative Bald Eagle from the Philadelphia Eagles and the Batmobile from the Batman series displayed throughout the day.
During the day, visitors can explore connections to other historic sites and watch demonstrations by Search and Rescue Dogs of Pennsylvania. USO members will also be on hand to discuss programs supporting military members and their families.
In addition to historical elements, the event will feature food trucks, beverage trucks, crafters, and vendors to create a family-friendly atmosphere.
The day will conclude with a gravesite ceremony honoring the 52 men who died at the Battle of Paoli, including a wreath-laying, firing salute, bagpipes, and the playing of "Taps."
Admission is $10 per person or $20 for a family of up to four people. Additional details are available on the Paoli Battlefield Preservation Fund website.
