Missouri DNR continues to investigate a fish kill in the Black River.Missouri DNR continues to investigate a fish kill in the Black River REYNOLDS COUNTY, Mo.(KFVS) - The Missouri Department of Natural Resources says a release of wastewater from the Doe Run Company facility contributed to a fish kill in a tributary to the Black River.According to the MoDNR, a concerned citizen reported a fish kill in a tributary of the West Fork of the Black River in Reynolds County on the afternoon of June 6.Missouri Department of Conservation investigators began looking into possible causes.MoDNR representatives say the Doe Run Company notified the department of the potential release of wastewater on the evening of June 6.MoDNR investigators say the wastewater was suspected of exceeding permitted effluent limits of pH, contributing to the fish kill.MoDNR says they’ve been sampling the water and believe the water in the river has diluted the wastewater so the Black River is no longer a threat to humans and wildlife.MoDNR representatives say the situation is no longer an environmental emergency, but they continue to investigate the incident, and any violations found will be referred for enforcement action.Copyright 2026 KFVS.All rights reserved.
