2 arrested in Athens Co. narcotics bust
ATHENS CO., Ohio (WSYX) — Two people have been arrested in a narcotics investigation out of Athens County.
On Thursday, the sheriff's office's special response team conducted a search warrant at a home on McVey Road in Albany as part of the investigation.
The investigation started after a K-9 officer alerted to narcotics during a traffic stop. Detectives found there to be enough information to go forward with a deeper investigation and issued a warrant for the home.
During their search, members of the task force and the county prosecutor's office found a "suspected bulk amount of fentanyl," drug abuse materials and money.
Two people were arrested at the home. William Evans, 42, of Athens, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. Stacy Dailey, 49, of Circleville, was arrested on an active warrant for theft.
Both were taken to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail. The county prosecutor's office is now reviewing the case, and more charges are expected to be filed.
