Fauquier Health CEO Rebecca Segal has been named to the Becker’s Hospital Review “2026 Women Hospital CEOs to Know” list for the second consecutive year.
Made up of 236 women presidents and CEOs around the country, the Becker’s list, published earlier this month, stated those listed are recognized for “driving growth, expanding access to care and cultivating workplace cultures where providers and patients both thrived,” according to a Fauquier Health news release.
During her tenure in Fauquier, Segal has focused on improvements in quality care that have led to two consecutive designations as a Top General Hospital by Leapfrog, along with helping to develop an employee culture that has resulted in a 30% increase in employee engagement scores. She has also overseen multiple investments in new technology, including the recent deployment of robotics for spine surgery and hip and knee replacement surgery and increased access to care through the addition of providers including primary care, gastroenterology and urology, the release said.
“Our community is fortunate to have a leader like Becca at the helm of Fauquier Health,” Ashley Smith, Fauquier Health Board of Trustees chair, said in a statement. “We have a hospital and healthcare system here that provides exceptional quality care and employs remarkable people who strive every day to improve the health of our residents. Fauquier Health has received numerous national accolades over the last few years – this recognition of Becca’s leadership is well-deserved.”
The complete list of honorees can be found here.
Segal, a Virginia native, joined Fauquier Health in late 2022 after more than a decade of hospital leadership experience around the country.
“Being a community hospital often means we are caring for our neighbors, friends and even family, so it just means more,” Segal said in the release. “Providing the best quality care is the single most important thing we do here, and it takes a team who dedicates themselves every day to being the best.”
In addition to being named to this list for two consecutive years, Segal was also named to Becker’s “Rising Stars: 60 Healthcare Leaders Under 40” in 2017.
Fauquier Health has consistently received “A” safety grades from the Leapfrog medical group.
Segal was in charge of the hospital during its 100th anniversary in 2025, when community leaders came together to celebrate the “little hospital that could[’s]” evolution.
