HAVILAND — The Wayne Trace Local Schools Board of Education was updated on its building projects during its regular Monday meeting.
The board received a building and grounds report regarding the district’s building automation project.
According to the board’s summary, the major wiring is complete in all three buildings, and Amaresco, the energy solutions company the district has partnered with to complete the project, is currently working to get the controls online in the high school building, which will be the first building completed.
Too, it was reported that the STEAM center expansion project is moving along as scheduled despite weather delays. The board had awarded contractor Alexander and Bebout, of Van Wert, the $2,771,134 contract for construction of the additions in May.
Building principals gave their reports.
Payne Elementary Principal Matthew Evans informed the board that Woodburn Missionary Church donated $735.52 from a youth fundraiser to give to assist with school supplies for families who may need the support at the elementary school.
Grover Hill Elementary Principal Jennifer Knoblauch spoke about Ohio Senate Bill 19, noting that students now have to be screened in Math and Reading. She also noted that eight students in the district had perfect testing scores in Math.
Meanwhile, in the Vantage Career Center report, board member Pat Baumle informed the board that Wayne Trace has 63 students attending the career center.
In other business, the board:
• approved a 15-year tax increment financing proposal with Blue Creek Township for improvements to certain real property in the township for a hog nursery. The school district will receive 15% of the amount in lieu of taxes paid.
• approved various other administrative and personnel matters.
• went into executive session to discuss specified employment matters of public employee/official, with no action taken.
The next meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Oct. 12 in the Grover Hill Elementary conference room.
