Man accused of damaging Cobb County Flock cameras arrested
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A man accused of damaging several Cobb County Flock cameras on Tuesday night has been arrested.
Colby Williams faces four counts of second-degree criminal damage to property, four counts of third-degree arson, one count of reckless conduct, and one count of interference with government property.
According to his arrest warrant, Williams first fired “a projectile” at a camera at East Cobb Park off Roswell Road, causing “two large melted spots.”
Williams also allegedly placed a sticker on the camera pole reading “deflock” with a QR code linking to the DeFlock website, which maps license plate reader cameras across the country.
Williams then went about two miles down the road to a Home Depot and shot projectiles at three more Flock cameras, his arrest warrant accuses. Two of them caught on fire, and the third camera had two bullet holes.

The Flock cameras captured a license plate number, leading investigators to Williams, according to the arrest warrant. He was booked in the Cobb County Jail on Thursday morning and has no set bond.
“We’ll remind people not to damage property,” said Cobb County Police Sgt. Eric Smith.
Across the country, several protesters have destroyed cameras linked to the Atlanta-based Flock Safety company, arguing the camera system is an invasion of privacy. In July, the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office said vandals damaged several cameras in the area, including cutting down a solar panel that powers the system.

The action comes as dozens, if not hundreds, of law enforcement officers have been arrested, fired or have resigned for allegedly misusing Flock cameras in north Georgia and beyond.
The most recent local cases were on Wednesday, when the Hall County Sheriff’s Office said it had fired a deputy accused of using the cameras for non-law-enforcement purposes, and the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy was arrested for the same reason.
