Tressel visitsOhio Lt. Gov. Jim Tressel will visit two schools in northwest Ohio today to hold assemblies around the “Team Tressel Fitness Challenge.”
Led Tressel, the “Challenge” is a free statewide program that helps students in grades 3-8 set personal goals, build healthy habits and reach their full potential. The challenge focuses on cardio, strength, flexibility, nutrition, sleep and an attitude of gratitude.
Tressel was scheduled to visit Lake Elementary School near Millbury in Wood County at 10 a.m. today and Elida Elementary School in Allen County at 1:30 p.m. today.

College appointmentsOhio Gov. Mike DeWine recently made a number of appointments, including several to the Northwest State Community College board.
John Poulson of Archbold, R. Brent Stevens of Ohio City and Kevin Whitlock of West Unity each have been appointed to terms running from Sept. 4 through June 9, 2032.
Defiance County:
Council agendaDefiance City Council will consider four legislative items its meeting tonight at 7 p.m. in the city service building, 631 Perry St.
Scheduled for a third reading is an ordinance authorizing the vacation of public right-of-way north of 330, 332, 334 and 338 Danforth St.
Set for a second reading is an ordinance allowing the vacation of public right-of-way behind 610, 616 and 622 Nicholas St. and behind 611, 613 and 623 Gibson St.
Scheduled for first readings an annual resolution accepting amounts and rates determined by the county’s budget commission and a resolution accepting the commission’s alternate plan of apportionment of undivided local government funds provided by the state.
Defiance Public Library Director Cara Potter also will make a presentation on the library’s proposed annex plans.
Library meetingThe Defiance Public Library System’s (DPLS) personnel committee will meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday at 311 Fort St. (white home across from Defiance Public Library), to discuss the following agenda items: director search strategy, an update to the director’s job description, proposed revisions to the DPLS donated time off policy, updates to the 2027-29 collective bargaining agreement and staff vacation requests.
Meetings of the board and its committees are open to the public.
Fulton County:
Grant awardedWauseon Exempted Village Schools has announced that it has received a $50,000 community investment initiative award from the Fulton County Family and Children First Council.
The grant will be used for “Welcome Backpack” program scholarships, literacy night, the digital empowerment project (senior seminar and Ruling Our Experiences”).
