Farmers union to host candidate townhall in Waupaca

Tuesday forum to focus on farmland protection and rural policy

WAUPACA, Wis. (WSAW) - The Wood-Portage-Waupaca Chapter of Wisconsin Farmers Union is hosting a candidate townhall on Tuesday, September 22.

The event runs from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with doors opening at 5:15 p.m.

Candidates and topics

The forum includes candidates for Wisconsin’s 8th Congressional District, 19th Senate District, 57th Assembly District and Waupaca County Sheriff.

Candidates will share their agricultural and rural policy platforms related to farmland protection, public health and safety, and federal farm assistance programs.

Format of the event

All candidates have been invited, and the conversation will remain focused on issues important to farmers, rural residents and the local community.

Questions for candidates will come from the Wood-Portage-Waupaca Farmers Union and from attendees who submit questions prior to the event. After the townhall concludes, candidates may be available for conversation during a casual social time.

The event will be held at the Waupaca Area Public Library, 107 S. Main Street.
