* WHAT...Heat index values up to 106 expected.
* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, north central, and
northeast Kansas.
* WHEN...From 1 PM Wednesday to 8 PM CDT Friday.
* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat cramps,
heat exhaustion, and even heat stroke.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.
Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A 27-year-old Missouri man has been sentenced to life in prison for a fatal shooting in Wichita earlier this year.
The Sedgwick County district attorney's office said Tuesday that Judge Jeffrey Goering sentenced Donny Harris to life with parole eligibility after 25 years. He pleaded guilty in July to first-degree murder in the death of Julio Osborne.
Wichita police responded on the morning of January 26 to the report of a person down near Washington and Indianapolis. They located Osborne, who'd suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
Detectives identified Harris as a suspect and he was arrested in his hometown of Springfield, Missouri, by local police that evening and extradited back to Wichita.
