9 injured, 4 taken to hospital when state fair ride malfunctions
LEBANON, Tenn. (CBS/CBS NEWSPATH/WKRC) — Nine people were injured after riders made contact with a perimeter fence while on an amusement ride at the Wilson County-Tennessee State Fair, officials said.
The incident happened Wednesday on the Wave Swinger as the ride was coming to a stop.
Officials said some riders made contact with a fence surrounding the attraction.
Five were treated and released at the fairgrounds, while four were taken to a hospital for additional evaluation. Fair officials said Thursday that all four people taken to the emergency room had since been released.
A state inspector examined the Wave Swinger following the incident and found no mechanical abnormality at the time of the inspection, officials said.
The ride was shut down following the incident.
