Third serious pedestrian crash in 2 days in Phoenix

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A man is fighting for his life after being hit by a car in the Maryvale neighborhood of Phoenix early Saturday morning.

Shortly before 3 a.m., Phoenix officers were called to a crash involving a pedestrian near 67th Avenue and Indian School Road. Investigators say the man was not in a crosswalk when he was struck.

The victim was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police say the driver involved stayed at the scene to speak with authorities.

This is the third serious pedestrian crash in two days in Phoenix. On Friday morning, a pedestrian died after being struck by a tow truck near 7th Street and Thomas Road. Just over an hour later, another man was hit and killed near 15th and Clarendon avenues. In both cases, each driver stayed at the scene.

Officers are continuing to gather evidence and additional details about the collision. The investigation remains ongoing.
