Fans watched opening act 2 Chainz perform and waited for Wayne to take the stage. But after a lengthy delay, concert organizers announced the show was over. No explanation was given at the venue, leaving concertgoers frustrated after many had traveled hours to see the rapper.
A day later, Wayne addressed the situation on social media. "My Maine fans, I'm so sorry."
He also confirms the concert has been rescheduled for July 28. Previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new date.
"I can't wait to come back and give you the show you deserve," he added.
The missed performance sparked plenty of reaction online. Many fans are expressing disappointment over the lack of communication after spending money. Waterfront Concerts, the show's promoter, also apologized, saying it was the first time in the company's history that a headlining artist failed to take the stage for a scheduled performance.
As of now, Lil Wayne's remaining tour dates are still scheduled to continue as planned. Beginning with his next stop in New York before heading to New Hampshire later this week.
