Coon Rapids will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Serenity Day Spa at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 30, at 104 N. Fifth Ave.
Carrie Haubrich, owner of Serenity Day Spa, described what the new business space will offer guests.
“Today’s spa started out as a quiet place to relax and enjoy an organic skin care treatment through skin care, body treatments, waxing and sunless tanning,” Haubrich said. “Every year, I evolve and learn and provide different treatments.”
Haubrich said the business has relocated and expanded its services.
“Today, Serenity Day Spa offers more advanced skin care treatments that primarily focus on anti-aging,” Haubrich said. “Of course, we also offer acne treatments and other skin care services, but anti-aging is our focus. As a master aesthetician, I have nearly 18 years of experience in facial massage, facial, neck and décolleté lymphatic drainage, muscle recognition and training, skin health, and skin-tightening techniques.”
Haubrich discussed her background in the industry and her ties to the Coon Rapids community.
“I’ve been a licensed esthetician, makeup artist, waxing technician, sunless tanning technician, Hydrafacialist, reflexologist, sound therapy healer, Look Good Feel Better volunteer, and an advocate for domestic violence through Shear Haven. I’ve been in business since August 2008,” Haubrich said. “I have lived in Coon Rapids all my life and graduated from Coon Rapids-Bayard. My kids grew up in Coon Rapids and graduated here as well. I’ve been a part of this community my whole life.”
Haubrich has also worked as a makeup artist for events, including fashion shows in Iowa.
“As a makeup artist, I have trained under celebrity makeup artists, traveled and participated in portfolio shoots, participated in fashion shows in Des Moines and Iowa City, and I’m well known as an Iowa bridal makeup artist,” Haubrich said.
Katie Mason, executive director of Main Street Coon Rapids, shared her excitement about the new downtown business.
“We’re thrilled for Carrie as she takes this exciting step from renting a space downtown to owning her own beautifully remodeled building in the heart of Main Street,” Mason said. “Her new location will give Serenity Day Spa even greater visibility and create an inviting destination for both residents and visitors.”
Mason encouraged residents to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
“Carrie has built an outstanding business since 2008 and offers far more services than many people realize,” Mason said. “I encourage everyone to attend the ribbon cutting and open house, tour the new space and support this wonderful local businesswoman.”
Haubrich also expressed her appreciation for the support from Main Street Coon Rapids and the Coon Rapids Development Group.
“It feels amazing to have Main Street Coon Rapids and the Coon Rapids Development Group supporting our community businesses,” Haubrich said. “Katie has been fantastic and truly is a gem to our community. She’s very knowledgeable and helpful and wants to see the community succeed. People should come out and support all small-town businesses because they are the heart of our community. I hope people will come support mine so I can continue to give back to the community. Every time somebody purchases a product or comes to me for a treatment, some of that money goes back toward the community for cancer, domestic violence, other business events, school events, church events or community events.”
Haubrich said she hopes residents will attend the ceremony and announced several giveaways.
“I hope people will come out and see my new space, feel inclined to give me a try and make an appointment,” Haubrich said. “We will be offering drinks, dessert, free door gifts to show our appreciation, a sign-up sheet to enter to win an Eminence Organic Skin Care gift basket, Serenity Day Spa merchandise, and gift certificates for services.”
Main Street Coon Rapids will also host a second ribbon-cutting ceremony for Midwest Heritage at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 30, at 118 Fifth Ave.
