Pork Showdown returns to downtown Sioux Falls October 1

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - The Downtown Pork Showdown is back for 2026, featuring 27 downtown restaurants with unique pork-focused dishes competing to be the 2026 Pork Showdown Champion!

Starting October 1, diners can vote on featured dishes via the DTSF app by scanning QR codes at participating restaurants.

Dishes will be judged on five criteria, including best use of pork, flavor, tenderness, presentation, and customer service.

Presented by the South Dakota Pork Producers Council, the competition showcases the link between South Dakota’s agricultural heritage and the creativity of Downtown Sioux Falls chefs.

“South Dakota’s Pork Producers are proud to help bring this event to life and showcase one of our state’s most important agricultural commodities,” said Abbey Riemenschneider of the South Dakota Pork Producers Council.

“Downtown Pork Showdown gives chefs an opportunity to demonstrate the versatility of pork while creating something truly unique for their guests. It’s exciting to see local restaurants celebrate the connection between agriculture and the dining experiences that bring communities together.”

“Pork Showdown has become one of our favorite culinary competitions because it highlights both the creativity of our Downtown restaurants and South Dakota’s strong agricultural roots,” said Chief Development Officer of DTSF, Inc., Taryn Sietsema.

“Our chefs continue to raise the bar each year, creating dishes you can only find during Pork-tober while supporting an industry that plays such an important role in our state’s economy and culture.”

Last year, it created significant economic impact for local businesses and featured nearly 2,000 specialty pork dishes.

The 2026 Pork Showdown Champion will be announced in early November.
