Council Bluffs man sentenced for getting Uber for child he intended to have sex with

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (WOWT) - The man arrested after a missing child was found in Council Bluffs was sentenced in federal court on Wednesday.

After making a plea agreement in April, Devon Miller, 31, was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Judge Stephanie M. Rose to 14 years in prison for “transportation of a minor.”

In August 2025, officials say a 12-year-old child was reported missing from her home in Omaha.

Around that date, Miller and the child reportedly communicated over an internet dating site.

In his plea, Miller admitted to paying for an Uber to transport the child to his home with the intention to engage in sex.

Officers were able to eventually find the child and safely reunite her with family.
